Modifying a PC228 to work in the Waste and Recycling Industry

At Ridgway Rentals we are sometimes asked to provide machines that are not available from our suppliers. In these cases we are able to modify our existing stock to create a tailored solution depending on the customer’s needs.

Watch this video to see a Komatsu PC228 that has been modified to work in the Waste and Recycling Industry. The following modifications have been made:

Hammer, shear and rotate lines
These have been adjusted for proportional control so that the customer can have precise operation of their attachments

Reversing fan
This has been set to clean the radiator and engine bay at preset intervals. 

Engine pre-cleaner
This is for further air filtration, a new air intake has also been fitted to allow air to taken in from outside the engine bay

Removeable mesh grills
These have been fitted to the intake panels, these prevent dust ingress and can be removed for cleaning

Cab protection guards
This steel structure protects the cab from falling debris

These modifications have been made to allow the machine to work in the waste and recycling Industry for many hours without being affected by the harsh working conditions
